Prep Work

So the SE dance is tonight and I have decided to go (read “So Not A Total Geek” for the full story)! Now, as a geek trying to get a popular rep and live the life for a while, I do not want to look over/under dressed! I want to look perfect but I have no clue what to wear!! I can’t ask people because the only people on my speedial are geeks who wouldn’t know either! So I am going to go with my gut. The dance is in eight hours and I am going to set up my whole look now and post pics of the clothes on the blog in a text box. If nobody responds before the dance, I’m going for it. If not, PLEASE WARN ME. Prepping for this is SERIOUS BUSINESS because if I ruin this, I’m even lower on the ladder I’m trying to climb up. AND THIS IS A LOCKIN!! Which means if I go in an awful outfit, I have to be there with everyone staring and laughing, for 4 hours. This will be torture! So look at my text box with pics in the corner and rate my look. Please! (makeup and all)

Just because I’m a geek doesn’t mean I can’t have even one drop of cool in my blood does it? I like to watch Project Runway (speaking of which, you totally have to watch Shear Genius on Bravo. It’s genius!) and buy XOXO and Gucci bags. But why do I get slammed when I do? Maybe it’s because I don’t go to parties or dances, so people I don’t have any life…

So I’ve decided to go on a cool spree. I’m going to all the parties and dances, dating (or attempting to date) the cutest guys, and definitely NOT being ranted about on Myspace again. I believe the words on AB’s page were… “Who does she think she is to carry the new green chic tote from Rue 21 when I wanted it first. It doesn’t even look good on her!” This was all in her slam book. I have a whole chapter! Muahaha!

Guess what a response said! This one was from LT a jock I TOTALLY hate! “Nobody cares about how she bought a tote you wanted. That really doesn’t seem “mean” at all. She’s a nice person.” Like give me an instant replay! My friend PB sent me the link to the page and I was reading it over and over.

So even though that was a lot of fun, I don’t want to be seen as not having any taste and “trying to hard” to be cool as she made clear in four dense paragraphs. Instead I shall go with the flow and glide gradually into total popularity in order to maintain geekiness. I don’t want to go over to the darkside now! But seriously. I want to know what makes being popular so exciting. Am I actually missing out? I doubt it (most coolio kiddos don’t even know what a blog is much less how to make one!). But over the next couple of weeks I will share my cool experiences with you. Starting tomorrow with the SE Dance. Woohoo!

You think drama doesn’t go on in a geek’s life? Then you are very mistaken. What people don’t seem to realize is that drama isn’t what color lipstick to wear, peach or coral??? Like they’re so frickin different! Geeks, surprisingly enough, have even more drama than most of you perfect pretty preps. Because for one, we can’t seem to hold on to the rare boyfriend we have while all of the pretty girls are showing off their boob jobs and fresh waxes. So here is my first real dramatic post.

My friends and I all have very high standards when it comes to boys, so when we actually develop a crush, we take it VERY seriously. For 7 years I’ve had a major crush on a guy who we’ll call KA. He’s a jock, but he’s nice when his football team isn’t around to mock me. We actually used to be good friends. And when the rest of the Geek Squad found out about it, they gave me a very hard time. But eventually, they got over it. We talked all the time about him, and we disquised all of our crushes’ names with foods that began with their initials. (ex. CS equaled Cheese Sauce. ex convo. Don’t you just love cheese sauce? It’s okay. But it looks SO good….) The “Kool Club” just thought that made us more geeky but didn’t even understand, thank gosh!

Well after a year of flirting with me, KA finally decided to ask me out. I dind’t tell anyone, because I wasn’t sure if it was really serious or not. It was the second to last day of school this past year and it seemed kind of spur of the moment, I’ll break up with you in two weeks like I do with everyone else, but I was willing to go for it. He is like SO hot. I was worried it wouldn’t work because he wouldn’t want to be seen with, a geek. Oh the mock horror. So we left school with each other’s email addresses and that was that. We actually ended up emailing each other every day.

Then one day while I’m at the mall with two of my friends playing mall scavenger hunt (don’t laugh it rocks!) I see KA and my arch enemy, evil geek-hater AB holding hands! Okay, ew, everybody knows it could be dangerous to have any physical contact with a psycho alien. But that was his problem now. So as we walked past them, I “slipped” and sent my pistachio ice-cream cone flying into her face.

“Oh I’m sorry. I’m such a clutz! Let me help you.” So I “get up” and pry the cone off of her face. “Oooh. It looks like there’s some on your face, let me see if i can…” I smear it all over her pretty little face pretending to wipe it up. Yeah I know I can be a little jerk too. “Oops that didn’t work well…. Well, maybe it will make a good moisturizer.” Toodle-oo AB!

Now that was a fun little detour! My friends and I couldn’t stop laughing for days! And you should have seen what AB posted about me on her MySpace. But that’s another story..

The definition of geek from Meriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, 11th edition. Geek – n [prob. fr. E dial. geek, geck fool, fr. LG geck, fr. MLG] 1 : a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usu. includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake 2 : a person often of an intellectual bent who is disliked 3 : an enthusiast or expert esp. in a technological field or activity — geek-dom, n — geek-i-ness, n — geeky, adj.

Okay. I don’t recall ever biting the head off of a live chicken. Not one of those definitions seems to describe me…. So why am I considered a geek? Because I’m sick and tired of all of the “popular” people who are in love with themselves. They hate my friends and me because we get better grades than them and can’t manage to make it to first base in kickball. Because we haven’t kissed a guy yet and they’re saying they’ve already done it.

So I’m here to give all of you other geeks (as of my definition) an entertaining and humorous blog as I gossip on all the “scandals” and events going on. From a geeks perspective! No real names will be used but disguised with the person’s initials. (Anybody having a Gossip Girl deja vu?) I hope you fellow geek bloggers out there enjoy my site and let the Geek Speak!
